Nothing Is True

Against the backdrop of swimming pools in Los Angeles Mitchell frames the work around an understanding; it turns out liberalism just wasn't liberal enough. Swimming pools in LA mean David Hockney to many, but since this pioneering effort the world has changed, the settlement arrived at after the end of WWII has been shattered. The work in this show is an encouragement to see the world how it really is, the real world of our internal private lives. Our inner space has been invaded through bio power by neoliberal capitalism which is essentially pornographic, or as Paul B. Preciado puts it, ‘pharmacopornographic’.
