Hermés
digital print, acrylic on canvas 58x40cm 2016
"Hermés" recalls a dimension that is indistinct, but still partially recognizable. Here, it is an emotional and mnemonic architecture that connects private and collective history. The title evokes the Greek mythological divinity, the god of dreams Hermés, who was also an interpreter and gives his name to the methodology of interpretation, "hermeneutics". Thanks to this linguistic reference, one can formulate the different meanings of a space where to project fantasies and memories.
This work was part of Inga Meldere's solo exhibition "House By the Waterfall or Colouring Books for Adults” at Temnikova & Kasela gallery in Tallinn.
