Russian Geometric Pigs
laserjet print, paper, dimension variable 2012
Russian geometric pigs are package-like sculptures which ironically examine the idea of nationally-branded goods. The basic need of a present-day economy is to support human communication – the objects are means to emotional ends. The result of this new emotional economy or empathonomy is the merge and hybridization of the biological and the technological narratives. To further hybridize matters, Russian Geometric Pig serves as a complex sculpture and an architectural fantasy as well, which includes various art forms like appropriated documental and art photography. That is to emphasize and glorify the value of the art world in its complexity and entirety – to do so installation views of various exhibitions are included - and to undermine the long-believed-to-be-crucial features like original artworks, key artists and particular genres.
