Alibi (with a present)
Plywood, rubber turd, a bottle of Patron tequila 140x65x29cm 2014
This piece is considered as a monument to intellectual laziness. Young artists often tend to choose popular images, e.g. Facebook logo or a drone, and behave as if they’ve found a perfect alibi to pretend to understand modernity. It was psychologically uneasy for me to work on this piece since I was unsure if it was critical of such artistic behaviour or simply derivative. To sweeten the pill, I put a bottle of ‘Patron’ tequila inside to make a possible owner, a patron of the arts, feel better even if purchasing a mediocre piece of art. A rubber turd is a present for a broader public.
