Presumably due to national complexes, smaller nations tend to over emphasise the importance of the heroes of their national epics. These controversial characters, often portrayed as hyper-masculine and prone to violent outbursts, have been deeply embedded into national iconography. This work gave me an opportunity to combine tapestry with iron work, the rich medieval l layers of which tie in with the idea of mythological origin of the nation.
