Jaan Toomik, Kaido Ole and Marko Mäetamm at Kondas Centre
Arts of Survival of Toomik, Ole and Mäetamm
Artist Raul Rajangu’s iconic work depicting the arrival of the artist and his assistants in Viljandi, with its provocative and psychedelic, simultaneously fragmented and integrated nature and the intertwining of reality and utopia, is surprisingly well suited to characterise this joint exhibition of the three classics in Viljandi at the Kondas Centre.
Jaan Toomik, Kaido Ole and Marko Mäetamm have come to Viljandi with their most recent works that have not yet been displayed to the public, marking a stage in their creative journey. The joint exhibition enhances their inherent displacement, while the intimate spaces of the Kondas Centre allow the works to interact with each other. Hopefully, Mäetamm’s surreal hedonism, Ole’s existential tightrope walking, and Toomik’s ping-pong between the author as an object and the author as a subject has not remained untouched by the Kondas spirit wafting around in the house.
The exhibition is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
