Temnikova & Kasela wishes you happy holidays!

As we glide through the last days of this unusual year, wishing for better times to unfold in the year to come, Temnikova & Kasela and Barbara Seiler are sharing a potpourri of 24 artworks over the course of the last 24 days of 2020. From Tuesday, December 8, counting down to the new year, we will present an artist with a new work each day. The works relate on different levels to the challenges that this year has brought to us all.

Estonian Artists Association has chosen Sigrid Viir as the recipient of Artist laureate salary during the years 2021-2023. 

Artist laureate salary is awarded to five outstanding artists, curators or art historians/critics every year by Estonian Ministry of Culture and the purpose of the salary is to allow professional dedication to creative activities and thereby contribute to the development of Estonian culture.

Kaarel Kurismaa's installation 'Tallinna trammi-object' in Tallinn was announced as a cultural heritage object by Minister of Culture Tõnis Lukas.

Flo Kasearu’s video work "Creative Estonia" (2012) was on view at videokunst.ch showroom PROGR and videowindow Bienzgut, in Bern.

Edith Karlson created the installation at Kadriorg Rose Garden for president Kersti Kaljulaid's annual reception, celebrating the 29th anniversary of the restoration of independence of the Republic of Estonia.

Flo Kasearu's video work 'Client's Day' is part of an online film and video art screening series, at post platform of the Museum of Modern Art.

Kris Lemsalu is taking part in Biennale Gherdëina 7th edition, in Ortisei (Val Gardena, Dolomites). The Biennale runs from 8 August to 20 October 2020. 

Krista Mölder is giving a lecture at United ISSP and Baltic Analog Lab Summer School in Cēsis, Latvia.

Kris Lemsalu & Kyp Malone will be performing at Sõru Saund this Saturday.

Video works from artists Flo Kasearu, Marko Mäetamm and Jaan Toomik are now also available on Daata Editions.

Flo Kasearu and Jan Kaus collaborated on the book "Vangerdused" ('Castlings') which drew inspiration from true stories of Pärnu women's shelter. The central theme of the book is domestic violence and the stories are nightmare-ish fairytales.

On 31 January the Annual awards of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia were presented to the most preeminent experts in the fields of culture and sports at a gala at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

Kris Lemsalu received the Grand Prize and Sigrid Viir, Merike Estna and Edith Karlson received Annual Awards.
