Fred Kotkas
Fred Kotkas (b. 1986) is a painter and illustrator, who lives and works in Tallinn, Estonia. He studied at the Estonian Academy of Arts, graduating with a BA in Painting in 2012.
Kotkas’s works are comic comments on the bizarre phenomenon of everyday life, characterised by their poster-like pop sensibility. Although working primarily with painting and illustration, the artist has produced several experiments with other media. His recent exhibitions include solo shows at Temnikova & Kasela gallery, Tallinn (2013; 2019), and Hobusepea gallery, Tallinn (2012); as well as group shows at Rundum Rehearsal Space, Tallinn (2014); Tartu Art House (2012) and Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, Tallinn (2010).
